I had the most weirdest dream ever. I was in the kitchen and it was dark and something in the sink was making noise but I wasn’t scared, it’s like I really knew what was there. It ended up being a mouse in the sink drowning from the excess water from the faucet. Then in another dream I’m sleeping and my brother being obnoxious as he usually is, wakes me up to tell me that my mom hired a caterer. I’m thinking it’s like for my birthday. Then the whole thing costed 9. Yea those numbers. Only at the end to find out that it’s not for my ‘birthday’ but for my WEDDING. I was in shock. And told my mom, are you crazy. With whom am I getting married if I single, and the party is in two days. I’m surprise that I remembered every detail.

do I need to drill a hole into new granite counter tops for an exsisting dishwasher overflow valve?

I’m about to replace my kitchen counter tops, cook top and sink.
We bought a new 4 hole granite sink and a single control pullout spray sink faucet.
Taking into consideration that we plan on installing the sink as an under mount should we use one of the holes for the existing dishwasher overflow valve?

How can I get my old kitchen faucet off?

Its a single hole KWC faucet. Thet hot and cold connections came off just fine and I have removed the retractable sprayer and line. What I can’t get off is the nut underneath that is holding the faucet firmly in place. The nut that holds it underneath is metal (looks like brass to me). The wrench / socket size to get it off is approx 1-5/8" (13/8") My adjutable wrench does not open that big. I dont have the original tool that came with the socket.

What tool should I use to get this thing off.

Thanks

Writing Advice from published authors?

What’s the best piece of writing/publishing advice you’ve gotten from a published author? What’s your favorite in this article? Are there any that you disagree with? Any that resonate with you? Have you read any of these authors books? My favorite from this bunch is Therese Fowler’s.

“Aspiring writers don’t aspire — they write.” –J.C. Hutchins, 7th Son: Descent

“My favorite advice comes from Margaret Mitchell, who encouraged all writers to ‘put your work up for two months and then when you take it out again the errors will fairly leap out at you till you wonder why you ever thought it was good.’” – Ellen F. Brown, Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind: A Bestseller’s Odyssey.

“Tell a good story, and tell it well.” –Therese Fowler, Exposure

“Hold all writing advice lightly; every writer has to chart her own course by her own star.” –Kyran Pittman, Planting Dandelions

“Journal when you can: memories, snippets of dialogue you’ve overheard, cool character or street names. Someday you will be happy to have these details in your pocket.” –Siobhan Fallon, You Know When the Men Are Gone

“Write every day. Find a time that works for you, and stick to it. Defend its sanctity with your life. There will be good days and there will be bad days, but if you show up every day and put in the time then sooner or later you’ll end up with a story.” –Alex George, A Good American

How would a soap AND lotion dispenser look with a single handle faucet in a bathroom sink?

I bought a double bowl vanity top for a bathroom remodel that has the 8" widespread holes pre cut. I really wanted a single handle faucet for the sinks. My brother suggested a kitchen style faucet that covers the other holes, but I was thinking of installing a soap dispenser on one side and a lotion dispenser on the other. I don’t know what it would look like and I can’t seem to find any images online.
So, there would be a total of 4 built in dispensers and 2 single handle faucets on a 61" vanity.
Is there any interior decorators out there that could give me some guidance or visual images?

Thanks!!

my cold water in the kitchen has no pressure but the rest of the house does, the hot works but not the cold?

It is a single handle faucet, I recently capped the copper pipe in the basement that fed a shower and separate line to a bathroom sink. The pressure from the hot is reduced a little, but it still runs, the cold is next to nothing. All the other faucets in the house work no problem, I shut off the main and drained the system, that did nothing, I let it run for a while, did not work, I let it run while draining the system, still nothing. The line to the cold in the kitchen is the first junction off the main line coming in the house, everything I capped off is after the line to the kitchen sink.

At one point it would run for about 5 seconds then you could hear the pipes "clang" and the water would reduce to a trickle. I have a video of what it is doing, i can send it to anyone who might have a clue.

Thanks for any suggestions
Cheers Chris

Why can't I get hot water in my kitchen?

Electric water heater is fairly new and both bathrooms have nice hot water, but kitchen faucet and dishwasher won’t even get hot enough to wash dishes. It’s probably around 100 degrees. Pressure is OK, though not great. It’s a single lever style faucet, installed in April this year when we bought the house.

House is built on a slab with all plumbing running through concrete, but since a bathroom on the same side of the house as the kitchen has good hot water, it probably isn’t the long trip from the heater that’s cooling the water down. (it’s maybe 30′)

thanks for any and all suggestions. I hate to think I need to jackhammer these floors to solve the problem!

How to remove handle of a kitchen faucet?

I have a single handle kitchen faucet which is leaking. I wanted to put a new washer to see if that stops it. But i am currently stuck at the first point itself which is to remove the handle. I know that there is a set screw(which can be removed using a allen key) but cannot see it at all. There is a hot/cold symbol (picture) which somehow i think needs to be taken out to see the set screw but i am unable to do so. Any ideas what i am missing here?
